01What it is

What a performance marketing agency is, and how it differs from an SMM or digital agency.

A performance agency doesn't sell "presence on social media" — it sells a measurable advertising outcome: leads, sales, cost per lead, and ROI. The difference from SMM and digital agencies isn't in the tools, but in what you're paying for and what you see in the report.

InSync works as a performance agency, but with two additions: AI automation built into the process (creative generation, lead scoring, auto-replies in chats) and SEO and GEO as a channel for organic leads alongside paid traffic.

02How it works

How InSync's performance marketing agency works: from brief to scaling.

The process is the same for a restaurant, a clinic, or an online store: a fast start, then weekly fine-tuning of the numbers. No "a month for strategy" — the strategy fits on one page and gets tested by real traffic.

03Metrics

Which metrics a performance agency tracks, and what you see in the report.

Every week you get a report with three blocks: spend, result, conclusion. No "200,000 reach" without an explanation of what it actually delivered. Here are the metrics we keep in focus:

  1. CPL — cost per lead. How much a single lead, call, or Direct conversation costs. Benchmarks by niche are in the article CPL by niche.
  2. Conversion to sale or booking. How many leads turn into customers. A $2 lead that never closes is more expensive than a $20 lead that becomes a customer.
  3. CPA — cost per acquisition. Cost per lead divided by conversion rate. This is the number we compare against your margin.
  4. ROAS — return on ad spend. Revenue from ads divided by budget. How to calculate it — in the guide how to calculate ROAS.
  5. Frequency, CTR, CPM. Technical metrics that let us spot creative fatigue before it hits your cost per lead. A full breakdown is in marketing metrics.
04Price

How much does a performance marketing agency cost in 2026.

06How to Choose

How to choose a performance marketing agency: 6 questions to ask before signing a contract.

  1. What metric do you report on? If the answer is "reach" and "engagement," that's not performance. It should be cost per lead, conversion rate, and ROAS.
  2. Whose ad account and pixel is it? The account should be yours. An agency that runs ads from its own account takes all the history and audiences with them when you part ways.
  3. Where does the budget go? The management fee and the ad budget should be separate line items. An "all-inclusive for $800" package hides how much actually went to traffic.
  4. Show me a case study in a similar niche with real numbers. Not "ROAS 10x" with no context, but the budget, time frame, number of leads, and what happened to them.
  5. Who exactly will be running the project? The founder sells, an intern runs it — that's a common pattern. Ask who's accountable for the numbers and how often you'll actually hear from them.
  6. What happens in the first month if there are no results? An honest answer: testing, elimination, new hypotheses, and a transparent report on why. A promise of "guaranteed leads" is a reason to walk away.

A detailed checklist is in the guide how to choose a marketing agency, and a comparison of working formats is in the article agency vs. freelancer.

07FAQ

Frequently asked questions about performance agencies

What is performance marketing, in plain terms?

It's advertising judged by measurable results: leads, calls, sales, cost per lead (CPL), and return on ad spend (ROAS). Not by reach, likes, or "brand recognition." A performance marketing agency sets up campaigns so every UAH spent produces a measurable result, and reports on exactly that.

How is a performance agency different from a freelance Meta ads specialist?

A freelancer usually runs one platform and works alone: no backup, no designer, no analyst. An agency covers Meta, Google, and TikTok at the same time, handles creatives, landing pages, and analytics, and keeps the process running when someone's on vacation. Agency pricing is $450–700/mo versus $150–500 for a freelancer, but the scope of work is different too. For a detailed comparison, see the "Agency vs. Freelancer" page.

Do you work on a pay-for-results basis?

No, deliberately so. A "pay per lead" model pushes the contractor toward cheap, low-quality leads, since they're paid by volume. We charge a fixed management fee, the ad budget goes straight to the platforms, and we report on leads, cost per lead, and ROAS. That way you see the real economics, and we're motivated to bring in quality leads, not cheap ones.

Which platforms and niches do you work with?

Meta (Facebook, Instagram), Google Ads, TikTok Ads, plus SEO and GEO for organic and AI search. Over 4 years — 150+ projects across 40+ niches: restaurants, beauty and cosmetology, dentistry, furniture, e-commerce, B2B construction, education, auto. We work with businesses in Ukraine and with Ukrainian owners in the US, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, and Canada.

How long until the first leads come in?

The first launch happens within 5 business days of the brief. First leads usually arrive 1–3 days after launch, and a steady flow with a predictable cost per lead comes by day 14–30, once the algorithms have gathered data and weak creatives and audiences have been filtered out.

How much does a performance marketing agency cost?

Management at InSync is $450–700/mo, depending on the number of platforms and volume of creatives. The ad budget starts at $600/mo, separate, and goes directly to Meta and Google. The price includes strategy, creatives, landing page, analytics setup, optimization, and a weekly report. We work out the exact package for your business during a free audit.
